Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is an American actress, singer, and former model. Kotero is famous for her role as co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the singer in the group of girls Apollonia 6. Apollonia was given the title of an actress and female singer by Prince. Through the 1980s she was among several other performers who gained from Prince. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work began as a model actress in the late '70s including an appearance in the television series CHiPS. In 1984 she landed the role of the lead female in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she switched her names) and was replaced by Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 singing with them on the screen under the name Apollonia 6. They scored a small success with the film Sex Shooter, but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made an impact on the charts. Kotero and Prince had a fallout over her future career. Apollonia6 split, Kotero didn't remain in her relationship with Prince. The actress appeared in several tiny films, such as the sequel to Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon (which she declined) after which she was offered the part of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. The R&B and dance tracks were not well received by the music buying public. It soon disappeared.
